News: Hydroxychloroquine fails to treat hospitalized COVID-19 patients

The US-funded study by the National Institutes of Health, conducted by the researchers of New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City, has found that Hydroxychloroquine—the drug that treated Malaria—has proven to be ineffective in treating COVID Patients.

Nearly 60%, or 811 of the patients, received the drug within 48 hours and were found, on average, to be more severely ill than those who didn’t receive the drug, the researchers said. Chloroquine was approved by FDA in 1949 to treat malaria.
